Hello! Hello!

Can you hear me?

I did it!  I have traded Fillipa the flip phone for Ippolita the IPhone.  The time has come for me to master the smart phone while I'm still smart enough to do so.

Fillipa served me well through the years even though she suffered great neglect.  You see, I rarely turned her on unless I needed to make a call or was meeting someone.  She was never invited to be on my table in a restaurant.  During her years of service, she received only one text message and never sent one.

I'm not yet sure just how much use I will allow Ippolita to be to me.  I do know that she will not be allowed on my table at a restaurant.

  2. I hear you fine, but not on my cell phone, i have a flip phone, i paid 14.99 for it at WM and it only dials out when i have an emergency... i would love to have a smart phone but i don't talk on the phone so it would be a waste for me. my little flip just lives in my car

  3. I Send texts to my grandchildren and receive them also. I do this on a regular phone that has a key board. I had a smart phone but didn't use the internet on it or check e-mails so I went back to a regular phone. Ronnie just got a new flip phone.

  5. Funny I just wrote a post on my phone (yet to be published.) I've seen signs in restaurants to not talk on or use the phone while there. I saw a family once at a restaurant who had piled all their phones in a corner on the table, turned off. Enjoy your phone, I think you will love it, there is so much it can do!

  6. I hope you will like your new phone! I like mine and text on it every day to check in with others. The camera is good too! Although, I only make a call when I absolutely have to, which is seldom, but it's great security in an emergency. Esp. when I was lost in New Orleans one time. And it's never met a tabletop in a restaurant!

  7. Bonnie, You will love having an iPhone. I use it for tracking weather, taking pictures, looking up a definition or spelling and it is my alarm clock... It truly is a mini computer! I have only one person who calls me on my landline. We will probably eventually do away with it and rely solely on our iPhones. Have you played with the camera?

  8. I'm so with you on conquering new technology. I think it is very easy to be left behind when things change so quickly. We've eliminated our land-lines and totally relay on the Iphone. We also use the phone appointment feature, so no more little black appointment books either. What will happen if the grid goes down ;)

  12. LOL! We went through the transition in October. My husband was still using the flip phone, and it was on it's last leg.
You know you are behind the times when your 8 yr. old grandson asks "How do you use that thing?" LOL
I already had a somewhat smart phone and an IPod, so it wasn't too bad for me. DH really had a big adjustment, but now he loves it.

  13. I love my iphone ... it is rather intuitive and the camera is amazing. You will be glad, I think.

  14. Congrats.... We're gonna do the same thing sometime soon. We have definitely decided to get an iPhone. Which one did you get---the 5C or the 5S??? Think we'll get the 5S... We'll have lots of questions I'm sure.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  18. My Mom just got one and loves it! Although my daughter gave her a crash course. YouTube videos help too - just look up iPhone tutorials - I find it much easier to learn if I see it rather than read how to do something.

  19. this was SO cute! I've still got a flip phone and barely know how to work it and, mostly, forget to turn it on unless I need it which is very rarely. smart phone...maybe one day.

  21. I loved this post…your opening paragraph had me laughing. I have a iPhone but use it so little that the battery is usually dead. My husband has now taken responsibility of keeping it charged for me. :)
