"You don't have to cook fancy or complicated masterpieces--just good food from fresh ingredients." ~ Julia Child
There is no doubt that Julia Child changed the way we cook. She came into our kitchens and taught us the basics and beyond. I visited her kitchen in the Smithsonian some years ago and was happily impressed that it was a working kitchen rather than a designer's delight. From beef bourguignon to her 27-page recipe for French bread, she has assisted me in the kitchen. One of her favorite recipes is one of mine also.
Fresh Tomato Sandwich from Julia Child and me
1 slice of very good white bread
1 sliced tomato fresh from the garden
Hellman's (yes, she specified the brand and I agree) mayonnaise
Spread the mayonnaise on the bread. Top with the tomatoes. Add salt if desired.
ENJOY!
