Andrew and I made last Saturday mostly a day of being with creative and interesting people. After a late breakfast (that would be at 7:30 a.m. instead of 6:30 a.m.), we did a few simple chores around the house before heading to the Mellow Brew Coffee House in Dyer, IN. The Prairie Writers Guild was going to be reading from their new book From the Edge of the Prairie.
I have the pleasure of knowing several of the talented members and contributors and knew we were in for a treat. How appropriate to gather at a coffee house that specializes in made-on-the-premises cheesecakes since the prose and poetry in this volume are all food related.
We gathered in a cozy little area at the back to sip steaming cups of very good coffee and visit before getting into....
There was music.
Clever, poignant and amusing stories.
Stories about neighborhoods that are nearby and those who inhabit them.
It was warm and cheerful inside.
That evening, we went to see Sleuth at the Performing Arts Center and were, once again, surprised at the ending!!
